The Germans confiscated

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

The Germans confiscated the personal belongings from his pockets, but they didn?t catch the leather pouch around his neck.

On his way to a permanent prisoner of war facility, he was held overnight in a small German-held French village near the front. During the night, the town was bombarded by the British, creating enough confusion to allow the pilot to escape.

The pilot avoided German patrols by donning civilian attire, but all of his identification had been confiscated so he had no way to prove his identity. With great difficulty, he sneaked across no-man?s land and made contact with a French patrol. Unfortunately for him, the French had been on the lookout for German saboteurs dressed as civilians.

The French mistook the American pilot for a German saboteur and immediately prepared to execute him. Desperate to prove his allegiance and without any identification, the pilot pulled out the coin from his leather pouch and showed it to his French captors.

Appeal for return of lost earring

0 Comments | West Briton, The; Truro (UK), Oct 29, 2009

A GOLD earring with high sentimental value has been lost by a visitor from South Africa while she was on holiday in the Roseland.

Val Barbour and her sister Diana Healey, who is from Somerset, brought their parents to Portscatho on holiday in September for a “trip down memory lane” after holidaying here as teenagers.

During a day trip to St Mawes on September 24 Mrs Barbour lost one of her expensive gold earrings which her husband had given her as a special anniversary present.

Mrs Healey said: “When we got to St Mawes we went off and walked for ages having a look to see where we could go for lunch, leaving mum and dad sitting on a bench. We were sitting eating lunch in the Watch Tower when we realised that Val had lost an earring.”

The 9ct yellow gold ear drops with a pattern made up of holes of gold are 15mm by 5mm.

Mrs Healey said: “She could remember putting them in. We scoured around in the accommodation and only found the butterfly back on the floor.

“We’re convinced it must have been lost in St Mawes.

“She is really upset. If someone has picked it up and has it hanging around it would be great to have it back again.”

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the earring can contact Mrs Healey on 01935 827705.

Place your pet?s

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Place your pet?s food and water containers on a mat or newspaper in the bathroom, where cleanup will be easier. When staying in pet friendly accommodations, you may even choose to feed your pet outdoors.

9 – If you’ll be leaving your pet alone in the room or vacation rental, make sure the front desk or rental agent knows. Be sure that you leave your pet secured in their travel container or crate if housekeeping staff will be entering the room at any time to clean. You certainly don’t want a housekeeper to enter and be surprised or even attacked by your pet! A pet may also run out of the room when housekeeping enters if left unsecured.

10 – Be very careful while taking pet friendly vacations in warm or hot weather.

Cover vegetables while

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Cover vegetables while cooking to help retain those nutrients, leave them unpeeled when practical, and wash in cold water. Scrub root vegetables lightly to protect the vitamins which lie close to the skin.

Fruits are loaded with fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and they can satisfy that craving for sweets. They are easily digested and most act as cleansing and balancing agents.

Beans, peas and lentils are legumes. They have a high protein content, helping to regulate sugar, water, and other metabolic functions. Providing fats, carbohydrates, potassium, calcium, iron, and several B vitamins, they are nutritional winners.

Nuts and seeds provide Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, which is an element that our bodies cannot provide. There are three essential fatty acids: linoleic, alpha-linoleic, and arachidonic acid. These serve to provide healthy skin and hair, promote healthy blood, nerves and arteries, and assist in the transport and breakdown of cholesterol.

Whole grains are filling, providing energy and endurance.

Then, I put it

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Then, I put it on my schedule each week, just as I do my appointments with clients.

To keep myself on track, I place my mini plan in front of my keyboard so every morning it?s the first thing I see. I also include a note to myself. It reminds me that ?Nothing Else Matters.? I follow it with my company slogan: Get Knowledge. Get Focus. Get Results.

Complex plans take tons of time to develop and many (if not most) end up gathering dust on a shelf. Using a simple plan improves your focus and helps you to achieve great results.

I couldn?t think of regaining my flexibility.

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

I couldn?t think of regaining my flexibility. Everyone looked me like a person from other space. I was not able to face my friends and in no time I lost all my friends. Then a day comes when my doctor advices me to take weight loss drug. I haven?t tried that before this is why I was not sure about to take these medicines. But after starting the treatment I found myself in that position where I can live life at the fullest. Thanks to weight loss drug. I had lost weight with weight loss drug,

Weight loss!

Just like me, everyone thinks that it is very difficult to lose weight and to regain flexibility. But the evolution of medical science has proved it wrong. We gain weight when the intake calories are greater than calories that burned. A limited about of calories contribute as the source of energy. But the excess calories that reside in the body stay in the form of fat.

Excess weight can cause various adverse effects like as under:-

? Chronic joint pain, lower back pain.

? Heart failure, and

? Diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension

One way to get rid of excess weight is to indulge more of your time in exercises, daily walks.

The pointer must be

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

The pointer must be able to move freely on its axis.

Weathervanes, especially those with fanciful shapes, do not always show the real direction of a very gentle wind. This is because the figures do not achieve the design balance required in a weather vane. Early weather vanes had very ornamental pointers, but modern wind vanes are usually simple arrows that dispense with the directionals because the instrument is connected to a remote reading station. Also modern wind vanes were mounted with an anemometer, a device that measures wind speed.

To obtain an accurate reading, the weather vane must be located well above the ground and away from buildings, trees, and other objects which interfere with the true wind direction. Changing wind direction can be meaningful when coordinated with other apparent sky conditions, enabling the user to make simple short range forecasts.

Another wind direction device is the windsock. These are used at airports to show wind direction and strength. The wind fills the sock and makes it blow away from the prevailing wind. Strong winds make the sock point almost horizontally, while light airs allow the sock to hang limply. Because of its size, the wind sock can often be seen from the air as well as the ground.
